Badminton, a game developed in British India, is now the second most popular game in India. It is a game requiring aerobic stamina, agility, strength ,and precision. The inter-house badminton match played on the 18th of May 2023, showed TMS’s aspiring sportsmen and women at their best.
Starting it off, for the doubles for girls, we had Prisha and Pari for Summer, Autumn represented by Risha and Harshitha, with Adriti and Aanya playing on behalf of Spring, and finally Subhashree and Kenza representing Winter. The first game was between Summer and Spring, with Summer winning after an intense round. In the next match Autumn played against Winter, with Winter beating Autumn. This was the end of the preliminary round. Autumn then played against Spring in a match that ended with Spring in fourth and Autumn in third place. In the final round. we had Winter playing against Summer, and Summer won the match, making them the victors of the competition.
Next was the boys' doubles, with Reyansh and Manas for Autumn, Akhil and Vedant representing Summer, Ryan and Bryan playing for Spring, and Aatish and Dillion playing on behalf of Winter. In the end, Winter emerged as the victors. The boys' singles followed this, with Reyansh and Vasudev playing for Summer, Prinson and Nidhish for Autumn, Hiraan and the badminton Captain playing for Spring. In the preliminary round, Summer played against Autumn, with Summer coming out on top. The second round was played between Autumn and Spring, with Hiraan coming out of the match as the victor. He then played against Aatish, with Spring winning, and in the last preliminary match Summer came up on top. The first round of the semi-finals was between Summer and Spring in a close match that ended in a victory for the Captain. Summer and Spring played next in another fascinating match, and the emerging winner was Summer. Tensions were high in the finals with Summer playing against Spring, and Spring was crowned the Champion of the Inter-House Badminton Competition (singles-boys). For girls' singles, Winter placed first and third.
Badminton is a sport that requires hard work and concentration. Though not all players can be victors, we here at TMS believe that trying and failing but not giving up, especially in the face of adversity, is the sign of a true winner. Therefore, let us have a cheer for all those brave enough to put themselves out and play.
