Battle of the Bands

Nothing can beat the sheer thrill of rock bands performing live on stage, especially as they battle for the title of the best band in schools across the UAE.

The Inter-School Battle of the Bands 2022 hosted by GEMS Wellington Academy on 16th November is the first live edition since 2019, marking it a special one. Eight bands were present from 6 participating schools: Our Own High School Al Warqa, The Westminster School, Dubai English Speaking College, The Millennium School Dubai, Wellington International School, and the host school, with two bands from WIS and GWA.

The performers executed electric renditions of popular numbers in hopes of winning the array of individual and group prizes, whose distribution lay in the hands of guest judge Christina Ishak, Artist Booking Coordinator for The Fridge.

Paradox, The Millennium School’s resident band,

had enormous boots to fill from the achievements of their predecessors. However, they triumphed as the competition’s overall winners and bagged the much-coveted position of best band. The victory was sweetened when Best Singer and Best Drummer were awarded to Sanjana Shetty of 11F and Aaron George of 11E respectively. Congratulations to Paradox, and we hope they are successful in their future endeavours!
