School anxiety or refusal sometimes is fuelled by a legitimate concern or fear, such as bullying. But an estimated two-thirds of school refusal cases result from an underlying psychiatric disorder usually anxiety.
For these children, attending school causes extreme emotional distress. The symptoms of emotional distress are sometimes severe and may develop into a mental health disorder. Some symptoms of emotional distress include: feeling overwhelmed, helpless, or hopeless, and feeling guilty without a clear cause. It can also lead to depression. You may notice the person has more frequent problems controlling his or her temper and seems irritable or unable to calm down. People in more extreme situations of this kind may be unable to sleep or may explode in anger at a minor problem. To help people with extreme emotional distress they should try therapy. It can be an effective way to treat emotional exhaustion. A therapist can help people work through stress, anxiety, and depression. They can help individuals challenge negative thoughts and equip them with new coping skills. Only if students’ emotional distress has been cured can they feel safe at school. FEAR has 2 meanings:
1- Forget Everything And Run
2- Face Everything And Rise
Which is the correct meaning? That is for you to decide.
