Interhouse Basketball

In January, TMS senior school students showcased their house spirit as they took part in the inter-house Basketball competition. Both the boys and girls of grades 10,11 & 12 participated, and it turned out to be a great showcase of skill, teamwork, and resilience.

The boys’ side of the bracket saw Summer take on the mighty Spring House in the first game. The teams were evenly matched up till the end of the first half, with liquid-tight defenses on both ends. At the start of the second half, we witnessed Summer starting to crumble. Spring pounced at this sight and maximized their lead. The game ended with Spring emerging victorious, but only by a couple of scores. Winter defeated Autumn in a captivating display. This meant the underdogs Winter would take on Spring in the final. As Winter was the underdog, they applied the pressure early on but were unable to score. Spring, however, also struggled to get on the board as Winter defended well. By the end of the third quarter, Winter was down by 2 points and had an outside shot of winning the game. Nevertheless, Spring showed why their players were on the school team and made it a runaway game, winning by almost 10 points. However, Winter put up a great fight despite being underdogs, by providing occasional upsets throughout the match. The losers' final saw Summer place third and Autumn collected the wooden spoon.

The girls’ bracket was equally competitive as the boys’ bracket. The first match was between Winter and Autumn. Autumn dominated early on as Winter’s defense floundered. But after the first half and a tactics and strategy overhaul, Winter dominated the game on offense but mainly on defense. They scored 12 unanswered points and a buzzer-beater to win the game. Teja of 11D scored a majority of the points and capped off a good team display. The second game was between Summer and Spring. Summer looked to dominate this game as they had a significantly more experienced team. And they did not disappoint, by completely thrashing spring house and eliminating them from the competition. The final was between Summer and Winter. The game started as a close one but became a blowout towards the end, with Summer dominating Winter.

This final marked the end of Inter-House Basketball for this academic year and congratulations to all who participated and to those who won.
